■ Autumn at Serakogen Farm

That country, that place, that light.
I think everyone has a few places they would like to visit again and again in their lives.
The place that is floating in your mind right now may well be that place for you.
For me, Serakogen Farm is an important place that I want to visit again and again.
It has always been and always will be a place I want to visit.
It has been about 10 years since I first encountered Serakogen Farm.
I fell in love with the beauty of the flowers and the kindness of the people, and returned many times, in spring, summer, autumn and winter.
I took pictures tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of times.
I also wrote about my encounter with Sera Kogen Farm and my thoughts about it in "Serase Sapphire Spring."
There are many different seasons, but I like Serakogen Farm in autumn.
Because my favorite flower is the dahlia.

I like dahlias.
■About Dahlia
In autumn at Serakogen Farm, there is a dahlia garden where dahlias bloom as far as the eye can see.

Dahlia
Dahlia
Dahlia
Dahlias as far as the eye can see.
Dahlias come in a variety of colors: pink, orange, red, purple, white, yellow, yellow-green, and cream.
Dahlias as big as a human face and small dahlias as small as marshmallows.
There are round, poppy dahlias and flat dahlias.
Tall dahlias, short dahlias.
Dahlias of various colours, sizes and shapes are blooming here and there.
When I see students visiting for the first time at photography seminars, I often see them so excited by the beauty of the place that they don't know where or how to take the photos.
I understand.
Because there is such a beautiful view right in front of you.
Dahlias here and there.
I was so nervous I didn't know how to take the picture.
When that happens, take a deep breath and start shooting.
After taking photos of various types, I recommend that you try to find your favorite dahlia.
Walk around the vast flower field, look around, and find what you like.
And to take beautiful photos of the dahlias.
I have often found myself walking around looking for dahlias of the size, color, and shape that I liked, and before I knew it, an hour had passed.
By the way.
My favorite flower these days is a huge pink dahlia.

Oh how beautiful!
When I look at dahlias up close, I can't help but stare at them.
I wonder how the petals ended up with such beautiful curves?
Or,
Why were we born with such beautiful colors?
Or,
Thank you God for packing such beautiful shapes into the flower called dahlia.
Or,
Thank you Serakogen Farm for allowing me to photograph such beautiful dahlias.
Or something like that.
With these thoughts in mind, I took the picture.
Because it's really beautiful.

This autumn, from Saturday, September 14th to Monday, November 4th, Serakogen Farm will be decorated with 7,500 dahlias of 550 varieties and 13,000 garden mums of 30 varieties.
■Autumn flowers
In autumn at Serakogen Farm, many flowers such as cosmos and garden mums bloom.

When viewed from a distance, garden mums have the shape of round, dotted hemispheres.
If you look closely, you can see that it is covered with small, cute flowers.
Flowers look completely different when viewed from afar than when viewed up close.
Sera's food
If you come to Serakogen Farm, you can't leave without trying the super popular "Farm Burger."

At Serakogen Farm, the "Sera Burger Project" is being carried out as an initiative to promote food and agriculture in Sera Town, and hamburgers made primarily with ingredients from Sera Town are being served. The "Farm Burger" has been improved every year, and this year marks its seventh generation.
The Farm Burger is delicious when eaten under the wide open Sera sky and surrounded by greenery.
One of the things I look forward to every year is trying the farm burger, wondering how it will change this year.
By the way, I've been eating the Farm Burger since the first one. I'm always looking forward to the changes, like the sauce getting thicker, or the patty getting meatier and tastier. The Farm Burger keeps evolving and getting more and more delicious. I'm looking forward to it continuing to evolve in the future.
and.
If you visit Serakogen Farm, we recommend you also take the time to visit Setsugetsufuuka Fukuchiin.
This Japanese tea cafe is a renovated temple lodging built in the Edo period, located on the approach to Mount Koya, a historic site in Sera Town. They serve sweets and vegetarian dishes made with local ingredients, including Hiroshima native tea.
If you visit during the September event, you can enjoy the very popular "Koori."

Fluffy and creamy.
The sauces, made with fruits from Sera and Hiroshima, and Sera tea, are also delicious. This is the kind of "Koori" you'll want to eat two or even three bowls of.
■About Rose
If you visit Serakogen Farm in autumn, take a little more time to explore the "Sora no Hanabatake Serakogen Hana no Mori" (Serakogen Flower Forest), a garden of autumn roses and flowers, and the fragrant English rose forest. English roses and perennials sway beautifully in the highland breeze.

It is especially recommended on days after rain.
As the rain evaporates, the scent of English rose rises with it, enveloping the plateau. With each breath, the rose seeps into my body. Inh uh. Oh, it smells so good. Wanting to smell more of that luxurious scent, to let it into my body, I open my nostrils wide and take a deep breath. Inh uh, inh uh. Just being surrounded by the scent of rose makes me feel happy.
Of course, I have visited many rose gardens before.
but.
The scent of the rose garden at "Sora no Hanabatake Serakogen Hana no Mori" that I visited after the rain was so pleasant that I thought, "I want to take this feeling home with me!", so I bought a rose-scented essence at the gift shop, and every day during my bath time, I am enchanted by the memory of the beautiful time in the rose garden at "Sora no Hanabatake Serakogen Hana no Mori."
Rose is beautiful.
I had always lived with that thought, but after experiencing the scent of the rose garden at "Sora no Hanabata Serakogen Hana no Mori" after the rain, I found roses to be even more beautiful, and my interest in them grew stronger and stronger.
The 2024 event will run from Saturday, September 14th to Monday, November 4th, the same period as the dahlias. However, the park will be closed for maintenance for five days from October 28th to November 1st.

Enjoy a delicious meal
Talk to kind people
A trip to Sera Highlands will have you smiling before you know it. It feels like you're surrounded by great kindness, and it's almost like you're receiving therapy.
That's why I call the pleasant feeling of spending time in Sera "Sera-Sera-Pi."

I want to see the dahlia garden at Serakogen Farm, so I've been going there almost every year since I discovered it.
Every year, I never tire of flying from the Kanto region and traveling for hours to get there.
Because I'm so strongly attracted to it.
Because I love the dahlias at Serakogen Farm.
here we go.
Shall we go see the dahlias again this year?
Seraserapi.
